Similar projects that strive to foster educational and technological advancement in West Africa struggle to thrive because of their extensive use of electrical power and power hungry new and used equipments. This renders them unsustainable especially in West African communities where gas is required to power generators and lack connections from national grids. Gas is un-affordable and the possibility of connections to national grids may never become a reality. Thus; computer and science labs that utilize such equipments cannot be maintained, and ultimately are not successful.

Secondly, most of the existing programs don’t address the issue of increased failure in math, science and technology subjects in external exams. Most cater to provide basic computer labs using used equipments with gas generators to help teach students and teachers basic computer skills.

LAM-TECH Foundation, Inc. advocates an energy-efficient and sustainable design to ensure lasting effectiveness and to address issues such as failure in math, science and technology subjects, and decrease in students entering into four year colleges to study math, science and technology programs and successfully graduating from such programs. Our model requires an initial investment especially in the case of purchasing renewable energy solutions like solar, but ultimately is preserved as a self-sustaining operation.
